Laura, groceries in hand, entered the kitchen.
Dave was returning dishwashing items under the sink.
“You’re finally working on the leak?”
“I called the plumber instead. They just left.”
Later, at the neighborhood picnic, the men chatted around the barbecue.
“I heard Phil worked on your sink. How’s my favorite plumber’s crack?”
“Wide open for business,” Dave smiled.
“I got an appointment scheduled for Tuesday. Looking forward to the view.”
Laura marched up and glared at Dave.
“That plumber you guys all talk about—Phil…is a woman?”
“Uh, I guess.”
The men scattered.
Laura smirked. “It all makes sense now.”
