Let’s start off with the Story of the WeekWalking Through a Swedish WonderlandThe front door opened and Carl dragged the large box into the kitchen. “That looks suspiciously like an Ikea box,” Maddy said. “If it is, there’d better be a small Ikea man inside who’s gonna put together whatever you bought.” “They said it just snaps together. I got this.” “The last time you built a table, the legs didn’t reach the ground.” Carl winked. “That one required special skills.” “Special skills? You can’t snap Legos together.” “Which is why I bought one that doesn’t include plastic pieces.” She cut into the box. “Go. I’ll call you when it’s done.” “Thanks, hon!” Prompt: Mortise and tenon (If you have to look it up, I won’t blame you–I did too).
Highlights from my Independent Bookstore Day appearancesLast weekend I made the rounds from Morgan Hill (Booksmart), to San Jose (Hicklebee’s Children’s Books), to Towne Center Books (Pleasanton). It was a great way to spend a day, meeting authors and book fans. Thanks to my great hosts, Brad, Cinda, Valerie, and Judy, for putting together three amazing events! And as for this weekend…The travelling FAST FICTION roadshow will be in downtown Pacific Grove for the “Good Old Days” celebration. I’ll be hanging out in our Central Coast Writers Club booth. Stop by Saturday, May 6th from 9 am-6 pm or Sunday, May 7th from 9am-5 pm. Pop in and say hi in between enjoying all the festivities. Maybe even spin my magic story wheel and we’ll see what story it tells me to read you. Until next week… Thanks for listening. Scotty out |
