A Brand New Look

If this doesn’t look like the normal emails I send out every Thursday (except when I’m a day or so behind), it’s because you’re looking at a new email service I’m trying out. I haven’t really been happy with the emails that take you to the blog post each week, and based on some of the comments I’ve received, you haven’t always been a fan of them either. Under the old system, the photo I chose to use in the blog post was tucked into what seemed like a random place in the email you received that would take you to the website.

When I get this figured out, you won’t be taken to my website (which will also be getting a major overall in the near future).  Instead, you’ll just get this email. It should look better and work better. At least, that’s my intention. I’ll ask for a bit of patience as I muddle through this, since I’m not a ninja warrior when it comes to building websites or automated email systems–yet.

Since this is a work-in-progress, please–let me know what you like/don’t like about it. This service has a lot of features and it’s always tempting to see how many of them you can jam into every project. It reminds me of my early days with PowerPoint, when every slide had to have a new and different bounce, spin, twist, flash, etc.  I’m going to try really hard to remember that and to keep these weekly posts simple.

OK, here’s the part where I see if I can include the Story of the Week.

He’s Still That Guy

“You two are reliving your glory days, right?” Chris busted into the conversation at the 10-year high school reunion.

Jonathan and Scott clinked their beer glasses and braced for something eccentric from Chris. He always was the quirky kid and they wondered what the adult version was like.

“Guilty,” Jonathan nodded. “But you probably have a different take on reunions.”

Chris surveyed the hotel ballroom. “Revisiting the past is so subjective. Why rehash nostalgia when we could be enjoying future memories?”

“So…future nostalgia?” Scott suppressed a laugh.

“Precisely.”

Jonathan and Scott marveled at Chris. He hadn’t changed at all.

Prompt: Future Nostalgia
