Random thought: I was addicted to the hokey pokey, but then I turned myself around.

Happy Thursday. It also happens to be NBA trade deadline day, so by the time you read this, I might have gotten the call and been shipped out to yet another team. Either way, I’m still committed to bringing these posts to you. Speaking of…please make sure you read the blurb below because it’s my way of finding out what you like and don’t like about these little ditties.

Finally, before I get to this week’s story, here’s a quick shout out to Richard Riehle for his whopper of a prompt. You might want to crack open the dictionary for this one. Kudos also to Edward H and Mike L for their always appreciated feedback on beta version of my stories before they hit the world. Getting their eyeballs on the page is always helpful. I appreciate it (and if you saw some of my earlier iterations) you’d appreciate it even more!

Now here’s the story.

       Dumbocracy in Action

When I moved to Dumas Drive, my friend laughed. “Dumb Ass Drive? Good luck.”

Then I went to an H.O.A. meeting, where board members clearly displayed their G.E.D. educations while creating new rules.

“Trampolines must be close to rooflines to prevent most accidents when high diving,” one said.

“And no blood draining into neighbors’ yards,” another said.

“Aren’t trampolines danger—” I started to say.

“And you can only lick frozen light poles in winter.”

“When else would they freeze?” I protested sarcastically.

“Leash all pet raccoons!”

I should leave, but the entertainment is way cheaper than cable.

Prompt: Kakistocracy

Novel News & Notes:

Since I have a favor to ask of you, I’m going to keep this update shorter than usual. On the Questionable Characters news front, I booked a submission date with my editor. I’ll be getting this next draft to her by the first of March (as in less that a month away!). This will definitely keep me on track as I slice and dice. Already made a couple of cuts this morning. Lots more to come.

And now for my ask…

I’m attaching a survey link below. It’s a two-question poll about this blog. Basically, I’m trying to ask you, the end user, if it works for you or not. If you’re going to be generous with your time and read what I put out, the least I can do is try to make it something worthy of your time.

It would mean a lot to me if you’ll take a few seconds to answer the two multiple-choice questions. I’ve also created a free form so you can write in comments. Sound good? Hope so.

As always, thanks for sticking around on the crazy journey that is my writing world.

Scotty out
